The Carmel Group is predicting that satellite radio will have achieved an audience of one million by this September.

MB Tech has announced that it plans to develop satellite radio systems for the automotive industry and general consumer application. They're going to manufacture a combination CD player and satellite radio system for resale under a major high-quality consumer brand.
As an indication of the success of satellite radio, RF Monolithics, Inc. (RFM) announced that it had shipped its one millionth intermediate frequency (IF) surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter used by both Sirius and XM.

Once again, SkyWaves Research Report has correctly predicted the satellite radio subscriber counts.

Their report published on 16 June predicted that XM would have between 670,000 and 700,000 listeners as of 30 June. XM came in on the high end with a total of 692,253 sat heads. To show they're sirius, SkyWaves predicted a count of 90,000 to 100,000 for XM's rival. The number just beat the prediction, coming in at 100,233. Said SkyWaves Marketing DIrector Rick Cooper, "We are gratified, but not surprised, that our exclusive system of estimating satellite radio subscribers is proving so accurate."

Starting this weekend, Sirius plans broadcasts from The Station Inn in Nashville and The Bottom Line in New York on stream 100. The Station Inn concert features Rhonda Vincent. David Johansen and the Harry Smiths get Sirius at the Bottom Line. Said Joel Salkowitz, Sirius veep for Music Content and Programming, "This continues our commitment to live music on Sirius Sessions and is just the beginning of performances from classic venues around the country." For those who take the 4th of July siriously a special programming celebration is also available featuring the music of B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Madonna, Prince and Louis Armonstrong among others.
XM added 209,178 subscribers during the second quarter, bringing its total number of listeners to 692,253.
